Trinity Health Food is Medicine
At Trinity Health, we recognize that nourishment is essential for good health, wellbeing and resilience. Trinity Health Food is Medicine addresses nutrition and food insecurity while improving health and racial equity throughout Michigan. We work to provide healthy food access and skill-building education for all our community members, including those managing diet-related chronic diseases.
We offer Produce Prescriptions that are modeled after community-supported agriculture programs alongside empowering culinary nutrition and lifestyle medicine education. Produce Prescription are modeled after community-supported agriculture programs and participating patients and community members receive a box of locally grown produce each week from April through December.
Patients and community members also have access to culinary nutrition education through our free Cooking with Plants series and our Foundations of Lifestyle Medicine class. Food is Medicine programs are carried out at our hospital-based Farms and through our Lifestyle Medicine department, each deeply rooted in their community.
